The TSG is
the Test Street Grip the acronym for (in italian) “Test Tenuta di Strada”
TTS.
This test
was ideated by Torquemadaslot on the Torquemadaslot Speedway, and is
intended to establish if our works on a slotcars produce a good or bad
result; with TSG we can also eliminate the “human part” of testing, to
obtain the most precise measurement .
Let’s talk
about this test
Choose a
lane on your track and use this to make the entire test. Timings are
necessary.
The lane
power is provided by an electronic transformer with adjustable voltage
output between 3 and 15V.
This
transformer replaces your command joystick during the test!
Put the
car in your lane ; it’ll become running at constant speed.
The test
objective is to elevate the voltage output to the limit that the slotcar
remains in it’s lane for the entire lap, repeating it for 4 or 5 times.
Now you
can read timings obtained in order to examine if your modified slotcars
goes better or worse! You can proceed this way for every change you
make, from tyres to transmission to added weights, etc etc.
If you
can, position a camera in the worst bend in your track and start
recording, this will help you (as it helps us!!) to see (in slow motion)
if the slotcar goes understeering or oversteering ,helping you to
project the next change.

Let’s make
an example.
The camera
will show us if the car goes out understeering or oversteering, if the
internal tyre (during bends) tips of or the pick-up exits the lane while
in curve. The chronometer will state us how the car performs in TSG test
(showing if changes were successful) and establishing a scale of
reference of changes you made, while the voltage needed to obtain the
performance shows us the advancement resistance of the car (the biggest
voltage, the higher resistence ).
Enjoy!!
